An Ecological City——
Shanghai enjoys abundant water resources with blue sky, clean water and a large scale of greens as its municipal government continuously improves the water environment with great investment.
A Modern Cosmopolis——
Shanghai is the most internationalized and vigorous economic centre in China. As an important world financial centre, it has a mature sporting business model, and its consumers’ purchasing power is growing faster than that in other major markets of the world.
A Vigorous Sports City——
Now Shanghai is dedicated to building a “world-famous sports city”. For the past few years, Shanghai organized a number of top-notch events, such as 2011 FINA World Championships and 2015 ISU World Figure Skating Championships. Beyond that, about fifty international sporting events are held annually here, including F1 Chinese Grand Prix, Shanghai Masters ATP 1000 and Global Championships Tour for equestrian. Thus we have built professional organizing teams of rich experience.
A Tourist Destination——
It is among the hottest tourist destinations in China, offering two international airports with annual passenger throughput up to trillions of person-times. In 2016, 8.54 million overseas tourists visited Shanghai.
Shanghai is the cradle of rowing in China where the sport took root a century ago. The Chinese Rowing Association and Shanghai Municipal Government will provide all-around support and services, including the underground to the venue that will be put into use next year. Besides, the best-preserved ancient water town in Shanghai is just nearby with good hotels and abundant tourism resources.
The event will take place in Shanghai Water Sports Centre. It has two 2,250m long and 4m deep artificial watercourses that are connected with Shanghai’s largest freshwater lake, Dianshan Lake. The courses and equipment are compliant with the international AAA standards. It is used to be the venue for many top events, such as the qualifying competition for rowing at the 2008 Olympics and the 8th National Games of the People’s Republic of China.
Many schools in Shanghai have offered rowing training, and several junior rowing regattas are held in the city every year. In 2021, the World Championships will see more young participants.
Shanghai will provide considerate barrier-free facilities and services, and make the whole society give more respect and care for them.
Shanghai owns an advanced boat manufacturing industry as several well-known boat manufacturers base here. The promotion and innovation of rowing will further boost the growth of the entire industry chain.
